About me
I am a freelance sound engineer and 'all-rounder' event technician. I have been working with sound for almost 10 years now and while this is my specialism I have a tremendous amount of experience in installing, show operating and striking stage lighting, rigging, power distribution, staging, draping and video. All of this experience has been gained working on theatrical productions, live music events, exhibitions, dance shows, showcases, corporate events and working in education.I started my career working for 5 years as a studio technician at a well renowned performing arts college in Essex. Here I was responsible for the day to day running of the colleges industry standard facilities including the theatre, recording studio, music education suites and radio station. Along side running and maintaining these facilities a large part of my time was dedicated to teaching the colleges BTEC Theatre and music technology students as well as managing the colleges junior theatre technical crew. I am proud to say that many of the students I worked with have gone on to study music technology and performing arts at university and others are now working in the industry.
After 5 years working in education I left to go travelling, then after a year working over sea's I returned to the UK and started working as a freelancer which saw me working on corporate events and shows throughout London and the south-east. It wasn't long before I took on another permanent position at Hawthorn Theatrical Ltd as a project technician. Hawthorn is the UK's largest independent stage equipment hire company who provide equipment and full production management for a wide range of events nationwide. As a project technician I was responsible for the installation, operation and striking of high end sound systems, stage lighting, video, rigging, staging, power distribution, draping and scenery for a wide range of events throughout the UK. Throughout my time at Hawthorn my role saw me heavily involved with all areas of production working on prestigious events such as: Call Of Duty MW3 Launch, The London Boatshow, PAD Exhibition, Q-Music Awards, T3 Gadget Awards, Square Meal Exhibition and many, more events. I very reluctantly left Hawthorn theatrical after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident and took on less strenuous work outside of the industry to allow myself proper time to recover back to full health.
I am now fully recovered from my injuries and working again as a freelance technician operating primarily in London and the south-east. I am now looking for new opportunities particularly in theatre and am also open to taking on a full time role.
Additional skills:
Installation, show operation, striking and maintenance of high end industry standard: sound systems, stage lighting, video, power distribution, staging, scenery and draping.
