About me
I’m Charlotte. I’ve been an amateur film maker for the best part of the last 8 years. I have written, produced, directed and edited films that have been shown at my local cinema, which develops a sense of pride like nothing else I’ve experienced. I gained this experience while being a part of the Pauline Quirke Academy, a performing arts school for young aspiring performers and film makers. The plethora of films that I have contributed to, whether it be editing, producing, writing or directing have been both structured and with a clear telos, such as creating films to support anti-bullying week. My inspiration stems back to the silent movie days, most notably the films of Charlie Chaplin, and one of my ultimate goals within film making is to bring the techniques of this era and genre into the 21st century film making realm.
Another of my inspirations within creating media would be Stephen King. his literature pieces always astound me with their depth and meaning.Misery by Stephen King is no exception to this, as this was one of the focal novels for my film development process at my performing arts school. I read the novel multiple times in order to access the mindset of Annie Wilkes in order to portray the character in the light that King intended. In the film adaptation she is played by Academy Award winning actress Kathy Bates, who captures the essence of the character to perfection, and her portrayal of this character was one of the resources i used when planning my own version of Misery by Stephen King.
