About me
I am a reliable and enthusiastic individual who has a proven ability in filmmaking and editing. In 2013 I achieved a merit for a Masters degree in Biological Photography and Imaging from the University of Nottingham, my final documentary video dissertation gaining a 1st class mark. I have been working as a freelance camera operator, assistant and editor since completing my postgraduate studies. I have a particular interest in documentary film making. The relatively late start to my film making came after 8 years working as toxicologist specialising in the therapeutic monitoring of drugs in patients with epilepsy. I made this change as the result of a passionate desire to communicate science to others, rather than just act as a practitioner. I quickly discovered that film making and photography in natural history allowed me to both maintain my scientific background and also develop my passionate interest in the environment around me as well as
providing an outlet for the creative aspects of my personality that were not fed by a traditional scientific career.
I am constantly looking to develop and strengthen my film making and camera skills by working with other professionals in the field. I have had extensive experience as a camera assistant in drama and live broadcast (at the BBC and The London Studios) as well as a camera operator and editor outlined in my attached CV.
I am extremely driven, enthusiastic and determined to succeed while remaining sensitive and delicate with my work. I have excellent time management skills, a good eye for small detail, diverse communication skills developed throughout my life in my varied career and am highly adaptable to changing environments and situations.
As well as being a filmmaker, I also currently work as a Front of House Coordinator and Events Manager for festivals and events in London. As a result, I am organised, able to think outside the box, problem solve, be reactive to ever changing environments and work well under pressure when necessary.
