About me
I had no idea where this journey was heading when all those years ago I first picked up a stills camera, but 50 countries and 30 years later as a professional cameraman it’s taken me from filming Land rovers on the salt flats in Bolivia and documenting the lives of the players from the 1967 North Korean football team in Pyongyang to standing on stage at the Brit awards and showing the life of serial killer as told through the victims left behind. My job has seen the rapid changes in technology from the clunky tape-based cameras of the 90’s to this new digital era of card and file technology. I’m able to operate cinematic style cameras and lenses, film with full frame DSLR’s on gimbals and motorized tracks and record sound on Wi-Fi enabled microphones, whilst lighting with flexible bi-colour LED panels, all of which would have previously required an army of technicians.
Recent work has been mainly focused on sport and sporting events, in the capacity of features camerawork, 2 Olympic games, 2 FIFA world cups and 9 Tour De France races to name a few. I enjoy filming the dynamic nature of sport, but also love being involved in all types of programme making across the industry from documentaries and drama to editorial and corporate. Each with its own individual set of challenges that you can transfer your skills onto.
Growing up in Cornwall moulded my love of the outdoors, and in my free time I will hopefully be found sat out the back waiting for a set to roll in or on the trails biking or hiking (to the pub). I’m still on my journey and looking forward to where it’s going to take me next, it would be great to take the next trip together.
Now I'm looking to take all my experience gained into camera operating in the Drama and Film area of our business.
