About me
I am an enthusiastic Costume Maker and Wardrobe Assistant with recent and growing experience in live theatre and costume production . I am willing to learn new skills and adapt to new situations, as I have done throughout my salaried employment so far. I have enjoyed work both within a costume workroom and backstage as a Dresser in a variety of theatres, and I am always looking to expand upon the valuable experience I have already gained. When not working, I design, pattern-draft and construct garments in order to gain new sewing abilities. I graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth with a degree in Costume with Performance Design, where I focussed my studies in costume construction for both theatre and film. I also learnt millinery construction. At school and college my sewing was focussed on creative textile techniques, and garment shape and fabric manipulation are two areas of study that have always fascinated me. I hope to have a varied career in theatre and film, and I find the possibility of being able to work in the costume production industry - as a Maker or Assistant - very exciting.Additional skills:
Alongside my costume making skills, I have also trained as a Milliner and am able to construct hats using Buckram, Felt and Straw. I enjoy knitting, hand embroidery and garment design. I have learnt both flat pattern drafting as well as draping on the stand, and I enjoy both of these aspects of garment construction greatly.
Referees:

Additional information:
Alongside my costume career, I have also worked as a Customer Assistant in several temporary retail jobs. This has provided me with commendable communication skills and the ability to work comfortably in a team or individually.
Crew:
A Costumier and Milliner who is a recent graduate with a degree in Costume with Performance Design. The focus of my studies was Garment Construction and Millinery Construction, and I also have experience as a Costume Assistant.
I am now looking to gain employment and experience to utilize the skills I have acquired over my years of study.
I am organised and a hard-worker with a retail employment history providing me with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Referees:
Available on request.
Additional information:
I have previous work experience for the BBC as a Costume Assistant for a short time on a Costume Drama. I have also created historical millinery for a National Trust exhibition.
Alongside my professional work experience, I have created a variety of garments - both male and female - for live University Theatre Shows and Graduate Films. In personal projects I have explored millinery construction, and now hold a portfolio of hat making techniques and styles.
My experience as a Dresser on live Theatre Shows have provided me with a strong understanding of how to work within a team to achieve a smooth-running costume department, In which I have experience in alterations and costume maintenance.
I am based in Sussex/South Coast based.
