About me
My name is Inés de los Santos. I’m a Dominican Screenwriter and journalist, currently attending and finalizing my Master of Fine Arts in Screenwriting. In 2011, I graduated with honors from a Bachelor in Social Communication, with a concentration in Audiovisual production, that allowed me to participate in multiple projects, such as short films, music videos, educational campaigns and short documentaries. I worked as a journalist in Diario Libre, a Dominican newspaper, and did an internship at El País, a popular Spanish newspaper. In my last year of the bachelor, I was the producer of Semana Más Corta Short Film Festival, a national event that holds 11 years of trajectory. Previous to my role as producer, I participated in this festival and received two awards: Best Educational Campaign for Madre Ozama (2014), an audiovisual campaign oriented towards families that live nearby the Ozama river (Santo Domingo, D.R.); and Best Cinematography for Página en Blanco (2014), a short film about the last living days of the Dominican journalist Orlando Martinez and the events surrounding his assassination. In both projects, I was part of the writing process, collaborated with the research, and assisted in coming up with ideas that would connect the film with its origin story. In January 2018, I wrote and produced a short film about cyberbullying, called Isn’t this a crime?, that ended up as Runner-Up in the All Rise International Film Competition.
My stories are generally related to social issues, such as migration, gender equality, racism, hate crimes, injustice, and corruption. I plan to continue writing stories for movies, TV series or web-series, that mirror what’s going on in our world, with a more specific view pertaining the Hispanic population; with stories both, located in their particular countries and also their lives abroad.
