About me
Jean is a filmmaker with experience in producing and directing compelling dramas and documentaries. Her early work across communities allowed her to develop an empathic and dynamic approach to making films rooted in working with real people and real stories. Jean has a deep respect for the contributor. Getting behind the labels to see what’s really going on. It’s vital to see real stories on screen so that people can see themselves reflected and so feel that they belong.
To protect the identity of contributors, Jean often works with voice and visualisation ‘visual imagery’. The work feels essential and valuable and allows the contributors to feel heard and recognise their story on screen.
Jean is interested in truth, both in the way of story and performance. Her early experience across communities is deeply rooted in the personal films she writes and directs.
Jean mentored through Directors UK by Claire Oakley (April 21 to April 22)
Arts Council's DYCP Awarded Jean funding for Polaroid and multimedia work. (September 2021)
The Haunted Hotel is currently available on Amazon Prime. Jean directed 'Watching one of eight ghostly tales that take place amid a once-grand English hotel.
Additional information:
Jean is a drama director who has worked predominately as a film educator, focusing on community-based learning over the past fifteen years. Her shorts have been screened at festivals worldwide, and she is a graduate of the School of Social Entrepreneurs, where she set up Campbell Cloud Films CIC.
