About me
After graduating with a BA in Technical Theatre I worked with the rental company at Ohlone College where I was able to grow, learn and expand my knowledge. I learned the tools and trade of lighting with designing dance pieces and short one act shows in a small black box theatre. While in that job I picked up knowledge of sound, having the chance to set up a microphone for a lecture and running a show whilst recording on the playback machine.Moving on to work for Paramount’s Great America (now known as California’s Great America) allowed me to work with professional outside designers. My main goal was to be well rounded but I couldn’t resist doing my true love of technical theatre which was lighting.
I continued my pursuit on expanding my knowledge and found myself working for Royal Caribbean International after some time spent as Technical Director at Irvington High School.
I was promoted during my time with Royal Caribbean and was responsible for programming on Highend Whole Hog Consoles, maintaining the automated lighting and even dabbled with the Highend System Media Servers. Working for Royal Caribbean International added a lot of challenges for me and I personally feel that they expanded my knowledge greatly.
Taking that knowledge to the IATSE Local 16 in San Francisco I was thrown into major concerts and was able to work in an industry that wasn’t strictly theatre based but more large scale corporate and private parties.
I feel that although my primary focus has been on theatrical and concert lighting, I have also been involved in other aspects of technical theatre so have become able to assist with additional skills such as sound, rigging and scenic construction.
I have recently relocated to the UK and am currently looking for future employment and the next challenge ahead.
