About me
I have 5 years experience working in the film industry. My work has been in the main in film production. I have been a; production assistant, assistant film producer, film producer, director, casting director, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Assistant directors. I have worked in collaboration with students from the National Film and Television School, London Film Academy and with professional film makers. Through this work I have maintained good contacts and when appropriate I use these contacts in my teaching. For example I recently set up a Skype interview with an award winning film director, Sadik Ahmed, for my students who were able to question him on his current and previous work and how he funds his films. I am very happy to discuss my industrial experience in greater detail at interview.Referees:

Additional information:
During my successful career, my experiences have helped me to develop highly effective personal and communication skills. I am self- motivated, organised and I plan and prioritise effectively. I have strong personal qualities to support, encourage and make a positive contribution to the success of any team. In my present placement, I have contributed to the team by covering lessons for absent colleagues, and by providing subject specific input for colleagues teaching other courses at a range of levels. I have fully contributed to team meetings and shared resources and knowledge from both my PGCE course and my employment experience. I understand the need for flexibility and adaptability in FE and consider these my strengths.
* Effective presentation skills
In my current studying, film experience and other employment, I have had to develop effective presentation skills. On my PGCE course there are assessed presentations the most recent of which on Quality Assurance in further education, I achieved a level 7 grade. I have had to make several film pitches before expert panels the success of which led to funding for films. In my present employment I have to make presentations to colleagues on HR matters.
* Effective use of ILT to promote teaching and learning and monitor learning
I have made a positive contribution in developing the use of technology in my placement with the use of: VLE learning box, You Tube videos, Prezi,(a new and emerging I cloud presentation tool for my presentations for each lesson), Triptico, a tool for timing, quizzes, interactive whiteboard support. I also use: Animoto, blogs, video blogs, Skype, Mindmeister and Petcha Kutha. I am proficient using interactive whiteboards. I have started to introduce Apps into the lesson.
I have used some technology supported assessments e.g. blogs, video blogs for evaluations, email, Prezi and PowerPoint as a means of assessment.
* Good general knowledge of health and safety at work in an educational and the relevant vocational environment
Media production both within and outside the classroom requires careful health and safety management. I am vigilant in ensuring that all the technical equipment is checked daily, including; Macs are working properly, printers, software and internet. I maintain a safe working environment by ensuring plug sockets are covered, no lose wires are on the floor and classrooms are kept free of clutter. I am also vigilant in ensuring that learners do not access inappropriate websites. I am aware of the potential dangers of using making films on locations with students. For example a learner wanted to use a train track as a location for his film. This was too dangerous to carry out and we worked together to find a less hazardous location.
* Ability to provide high quality pastoral care to learners
I understand and believe in pastoral care as an integral part of a learner-centred approach. I support learner emotional intelligence by promoting a positive environment where learners speak positively about their fellow classmates to bring the group together. This allows students to think about and give positive feedback towards each other. I have given extra sessions in my placement on employability skills and recognise how vital it is to ensure that learners undertake a satisfying and successful learning journey, which progresses towards achieving aspirations and needs. I provide 1:1 support in the lesson for learners. I understand the boundaries and limitations of my roles a teacher and know the appropriate referral points for students.
* Effective classroom management skills
I have become skilled in classroom management through employing a range of strategies and techniques designed to foster a positive learning environment. These include being able to quickly identify and support individual learner needs. I use seating plans to support group dynamics, challenge learners when being inappropriate, develop and maintain ground rules, promote effective and respectful communication between learners and adopt a learner centred approach to my teaching and learning. I have group discussion, informational discussions on learner voice regarding the lesson and what the learners find interesting regarding technology. Through this approach the learners are able to approach me with new technology to implement in the classroom.
* Comprehensive current technical knowledge and skills commensurate with the required vocational delivery
I am proficient with Final Cut Pro, using Apple Macs, I know how to operate a camera, lighting techniques, single camera techniques and depth of field. Alongside these I also provide opportunities, which allow the learners to develop industry appropriate skills. For example setting up production meetings, generating pitches, introducing industry standard pre-production paperwork.
