About me
My name is Ken LaRock, and I'm an Air Force Veteran who currently works at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton Ohio in the Public Affairs Division. Originally I'm from Flint Michigan and still have strong family ties there, and also in Detroit. My art training first started at 'Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts' in Southfield Michigan. I freelanced in video production for several years in Michigan before joining the military. I was able to travel the world with the Air Force and count my blessings for it. Once I separated from active duty military, I decided to stay in Dayton and pursue a career as an audio-video specialist for the government as a civil servant. I worked as a videographer/editor for over eight years for the government, and freelanced for about fifteen years now in outside industry.Creating videos and imagery that people can learn from or enjoy, has always been my goal. I've always loved telling someone’s story through the lens. Now my new position with the museum requires me to go beyond just the video camera lens and into still photography as well. I also freelance as a camera operator for the Dayton Dragons Baseball(3yrs) live and in house broadcast as well as Time Warner Sports(5 yrs) in the region. I also own my own video/photo production company(Shutter Down Productions, LLC).
Recording live concerts of the Air Force band here in Dayton, lead me along the path to meet my amazing wife Felita. We have been married now for over three and a half years, and I'm loving being a part of something bigger than myself. My wife is a retired military vocalist who served our Great nation for twenty years. I'm blessed to also be a step-father to an amazing fourteen year old girl named Melina. Being a part of their lives drives me toward being a better person and influence every day.
My hobbies and interest involve fishing, gaming, watching sports such as baseball and football and taking part in snow sports like skiing and snowboarding. Spending time with my family is the number one activity that I love, and making that needed time for them is a priority in my life.
Art defined by me is: "Anything that can creatively convey an idea, evoke an emotion, inspire, educate someone or get them talking about it".
