About me
Having studied Theatre Design at university I have been focusing on pursuing a career in theatre, by volunteering myself in unpaid work to gain experience. I am looking to expand on this experience within film and television as well as theatre. Most recently, I designed a show entitled Due Course as part of the Step Up Creatives ensemble at New Perspectives Theatre Company in Nottingham. Through this I was able to apply the theoretical knowledge from my degree to a practical context.
Through my involvement with the theatre company, I also helped to paint the set and props for their show Entertaining Angels which was also a greatly rewarding experience.
I attended the National Student Drama Festival in March 2013 as a General Crew member. Whilst at the festival I was part of a small team that built and painted the set for a production of 101 based on George Orwell’s 1984, built, painted and rigged a ‘NSDF’ sign, and received a special mention in the awards ceremony for my contribution.
In addition to this, my week at NSDF included ‘get ins’ and ‘get outs’ rigging and focusing lanterns and general technical crew work.
I also spent a week at Edinburgh Fringe Festival as part of New Perspectives Theatre Company’s ‘street team’ promoting their show The Boss Of It All.
