About me
Mackenzie Kram is an aspiring filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter residing in Palm Springs, California. In the summer of 2016, Mackenzie was Co-Producer and Second Assistant Director of "Quimera," a short film about a passionate artist who creates the work of his life by receiving the visit he desperately needed. Simultaneously, Mackenzie's desire to become a filmmaker landed him a membership in For Reel? Pictures, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting film in Florida. His time in For Reel? Pictures is best known for creating the organization's website and producing his first film "Phony Pop-Up" (2018), a docudrama exploring the dangers of tech support scams on unsuspecting victims. In addition to being the writer and producer, "Phony Pop-Up" was also Mackenzie's first starring role. The film was screened at the 2018 FIU Panther Film Festival.
Mackenzie was also an active participant in Florida International University's Film Club, allowing him to attend film-related workshops and network with filmmakers outside For Reel? Pictures. In the spring of 2018, he starred as Charlie Reed in Jorge Coll's mocumentary "A Mime of a Time," which was also screened at the 2018 FIU Panther Film Festival. The following spring, he participated in the FIU screenwriter's competition by writing "Landmark on Eighth Street," a sci-fi romance-comedy about an architecture student taking his relationship to a different dimension by designing a landmark for their university. Although the screenplay wasn't selected as the winning script, it became the first proposed screenplay taking place on a revitalized Eighth Street in front of Florida International University.
In February 2019, Mackenzie left For Reel? Pictures to separate himself from the organization and exercise himself as a true independent filmmaker. A month later, he released "Birthday Firing" (2019), a drama mini-short highlighting the consequences of employee misconduct when an employer fires a woman on her birthday for spending company money on a cruise. On April 30, 2019, six weeks after releasing "Birthday Firing," he released "Fear From Behind" (2019), a drama/suspense thriller taking viewers on a suspenseful chase when a man must save his girlfriend from being sexually assaulted by a complete stranger.
Building off the success of "Fear From Behind," Mackenzie released two additional short films within weeks of each other, each with their own dramatic twist. "Blind Lock" (2019) follows a man searching for a way back into his house after locking himself out, while "Ring Ring, Robo Ring" (2019) uncovers the dangers of robo calls when a man is coerced into accepting fake services, only to realize the robo caller is after his money, and then some....
After exploring experimental shorts during the summer of 2019, Mackenzie re-entered narrative filmmaking with the release of "Time To See Sense" (2019) on September 10, 2019, a short drama exploring contemplation through reflection. A month later, he produced his first suspense/horror film titled "Up The Yard" (2019).
Mackenzie's style of storytelling exposes ordinary people to extraordinary situations to bridge the gap between fact and fiction. He also strives in emphasizing action and reaction over dialogue, enabling his characters to embrace the story.
