About me
My core passion is the Theatre and events world and has been for over 20 years now. My current role as Venue and Operations Manager for Hartshornhook Enterprises managing both ‘Peaky Blinders: The Rise’ and ‘Doctor Who: Time Fracture’, I manage, schedule, train and monitor all FOH (a team of20+, with a Deputy Manager, and a duty manager) to ensure all aspects of the experience work to very tight time schedules and that every customer has an amazing and unforgettable experience. In my role I manage the merchandise sales, stock management, interviewing/hiring staff, rotas, timesheets, payroll, Health and Safety documents, key management, and general maintenance.Prior to this role I was Company Manager for Lapland UK, the largest immersive Christmas experience in the UK, where I managed the final immersive story of the customers experience organising 17 Christmas huts, over 50 Father Christmas and up to 200 magic elves. As well as Company Manager for the PS Event running both the World Cup in Qatar and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Including hiring, scheduling, reporting, health and safety, Artist Liaison, and more.
Over sixteen years experience creating and producing events. Eight years in Theatre, Box Office and Technical Manager roles within different venues, plus five years managing the box office at Edfringe during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Eight years delivering B2C sales for FMCG international company. I hold the PRINCE2 Project Management certification for both Foundation and Practitioner, and am also a personal licence holder.
I have Developed and successfully ran London based Theatres, Comedy Clubs and Festivals. Negotiating contracts, managing schedules, and booking acts. I created original promotional Material - social media, flyers, and posters. Also, scripting, filming, and editing both training and instructional videos. Implemented new stock systems for both the bar and technical equipment. Including cataloguing and rotation. Managed/monitored equipment loans, room hires, staff, opening and closing venues.
By using effective communication skills, I have successfully managed a diverse range of individuals and teams at the theatres and Edinburgh box office, which has a high turnover of new faces annually on festival breaks from university. Although the most challenging teams to manage, I achieved a high return rate year on year through effective leadership and team dynamics.
Another previous role was Team Leader for Census 2021 at the Office for National Statistics where I managed a team of twelve officers under strict monitoring and health and safety protocols during Covid19 pandemic.
Managing the customer journey and delivering excellent customer service has always been extremely important to me. I pride myself on giving customers the best experience. This has been recognised in reviews, such as Vitamix, who regularly praised me for going above and beyond, resulting in numerous customer service awards.
My focal training for new employees was also to ensure they had impeccable customer service training. My approach is to lead by example and the belief that customers should always want to return.
As Theatre Manager, I was responsible for editing, checking all contracts for visiting companies, ensuring all administration was effectively managed. Experience in meeting new companies to ensure adaptability of shows within the theatre’s remit, whilst creating strong partnerships ensuring the production companies and venue work cohesively.
By having direct experience as producer, actor, and creative teams, I have gained the understanding to create a supportive environment where relationships thrive. Also creating and awareness for all access requirements and diversities within all audiences groups by making sure my venues are as open to all as possible. Whether BSL shows, hearing loops in place, ramps, and utilising staff with different languages and backgrounds to help accommodate any needs.
Working as Theatre Manager and Stage Manager made me an effective liaison between venue and companies. All companies could rely on me being there for the duration of their shows to ensure they were taken care of and always had the best support available.
With the ability to manage multiple priorities, I pride myself on been organised first and foremost. This supports my approach to being calm under pressurised situations - approaching them in a logical considered way. I am acutely aware that in a leadership position; my role is to model the behaviours of my team and lead by example.
