About me
Mike McShane is a theatrician from Gainesville, Florida. He holds both an MFA in Theatre and a BA in Film Studies from the University of Florida. He recently co-directed, co-designed, and co-starred in Sam Shepard’s True West at the Acrosstown Repertory Theatre opposite George Steven O’Brien. Mr. McShane’s previous director/designer endeavors include: The Elephant Man (Acrosstown Repertory Theatre), Christmas Belles and Death of a Salesman (High Springs Playhouse). He co-directed American Buffalo (Everyday Theater) with Shamrock McShane and The Odd Couple (Expressions Studio Theatre) with Scot Davis.In terms of Musical Theatre, Mr. McShane assistant directed the regional premier of Rooms: A Rock Romance (JUrick Productions) directed by Dr. Judith Williams. Just prior to opening Across the River, Mike will assistant direct, design scenery, sound design and co-design lighting with Professor Stan Kaye for a semi-staged concert performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera directed by Dr. Anthony Offerle at the University Auditorium. This summer, Mr. McShane will direct Man of La Mancha at the High Springs Playhouse.
Mr. McShane is also a critically acclaimed film director and runs his own film company, Son of Sham (www.sonofsham.com). His film The Votive Pit screened internationally in the Pumelo International Film Festival in Mumbai, India. His other released films, You Are Not Frank Sinatra and It’s All Good have screened in several festivals within the USA.
