About me
Whilst on the MA in Filmmaking at the MET Film School, I realized that my real passion in this industry was to be in the camera department. In the past I've done several other jobs in different departments (specially in Production) or as a main runner, but it was during the MA that I finally discovered my main goal in life.My desire was so strong that I couldn't wait to finish my MA and I jumped straight into non paid jobs as second AC (mainly, but I must say I've tried all the different departments) for student films and low budget productions. I started offering my services to the tutors at the MET Film School, like Nick Morris and Paul Wheeler, who allowed me to have my first contact with a real set. I've learnt so many things with these two great men. Probably the most important fact that I realized was that Communication and Information between the crew is the main base for any good production.Without them, it’s impossible for a shoot to have a happy ending. Time passed and slowly but surely I started to get more confident in my role, and gradually I began to do some camera assisting jobs last year for the well known DoP's like Carl Burke and Xavi Amoros, and also some free jobs (dailies all of them) as a trainee for Matthew Beecroft and others.
More confident than ever.
It was at this stage that I fell completely in love with the focus pulling job. My enthusiasm and my willingness to learn became more and more ravenous, and at this point reading online camera manuals and dedicated websites just wasn't enough for me. Therefore, at the beginning of 2014 I decided to get more confident technically, and I started to apply for different rental houses. After a short period of two weeks at AIM Image, I was hired at Filmscape as a Trainee Camera Technician. I spent ten incredible months working for them, where my knowledge about camera equipment and their accessories increased enormously. Also, the possibility of using their equipment during the weekends, gave me the confidence and the strength to confront any kind of issue that may happen on set.
