About me
Once you get the chance to take a look at may resume, you may find yourself thinking, "I see a Portuguese address, is this girl really applying from half way across the world?"The answer is, indeed I am! Having been brought up on the small but glorious mountain of Goldra in the Algarve, Portugal I decided at a young age that although my childhood was idillic, I wanted something that the safe hub I called home could not offer, I wanted to reach for the stars and try to get into the ever so competitive world of content creation, whether that be on a broadcast or digital platform. This decision early in life led me to one of the best boarding schools in the US, Stevenson School in Monterey, California and from there I dared apply to one of the best production schools in the world, Chapman University. To my delight, I actually got in! Now I just had to choose which of the many production related majors would give me the broadest horizon, for me that ended up being Television & Broadcast Journalism. This was a course that would introduce me to a faster paced world of production than the other courses could offer, one more in tune with the bitesized content today's society just can't seem to get enough of.
My Junior year at Chapman University lead me to my next great adventure, my first real production job! I was hired as an Office Production Assistant for FOX’s Utopia, in this position I learned to manage the office without supervision, juggle multiple tasks effectively, and maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive materials and matters. This role allowed me to earn trust from my co-workers, which in the end lead to me being hired as an accountant clerk for another one of Talpa's production companies for the show La Voz Kids 3. I had never planned to work as an accountant but I took on the role happily and was able to gain skills in budgeting and data entry and an attention to detail I did not know I was even capable of.
After my brief stint in accounting, it was time to move on and from there I went on to be hired by one of the Executive Producer's from Utopia as Executive Assistant for FOX’s American Grit. In this role I learned the skills required to support a high-level executive in a fast paced working environment with success in the development and implementation of improved administrative processes. This role truly taught me the importance of having good support staff, that there are no small roles in production world and that with hard work and the right attitude you can do anything. I was even able to assist the story team as an AP in the last two weeks of shooting after showing I could handle the responsibilities of both jobs.
In my last role as Office Coordinator/Executive Assistant at AMPLE, LLC I was given the chance to test my organisational and collaborative skill set as I took on the responsibility of maintaining a safe, orderly and happy workspace for my colleagues. This role allowed me to become the face of AMPLE: the first person to greet clients and provide them with a comfortable and cheerful environment as well as the go-to for any problems that arose within the company. This was my most challenging but most fulfilling role yet and it is the reason I am applying to similar roles in Australia. You may ask, why would I apply to a job in Australia if I had been working in California? The answer is simple, although I loved my time in California and would never give it up, I would like to expand my horizons by working in a similar industry, but in a completely new environment while still at an age where this would be beneficial. The challenge of working in Australia is both frightening and extremely exciting and it is within this environment that I flourish.
I would appreciate the opportunity to meet and further share with you my qualifications and enthusiasm. I invite you to review my attached resume and thank you for your consideration!
