About me
I have more than 15 years in television production and journalism over a wide range of subjects. Born and raised in New York, I began my career at the New York Daily News, where I wrote for the arts and entertainment publication BET Weekend Magazine.I later moved to television production, first at CBS New Productions where I cut my teeth on hour-long documentaries for cable networks such as Arts & Entertainment, The Discovery Channel, The History Channel and TLC. I then moved to 20/20 with Barbara Walters and John Stossel, Primetime with Diane Sawyer, and Good Morning America Weekend Edition as a producer for ABC News. I also freelanced produced for The Tyra Banks Show and E! Entertainment Television.
In the summer of 2006, I moved with my husband and two daughters to London where I focused primarily on raising my children while also writing my debut novel The Unraveling of Bebe Jones, which won the National Indie Excellence Award for African American fiction in 2013.
I have studied in both Paris and London and I'm a graduate of Columbia University with honours. While studying at uni, I worked in the service industry as a waiter and bartender. I established Breaknight Films shortly after my move to Sydney in 2009 to return to work developing and producing television content.
In 2015 I won membership into the Australian Writer's Guild Pathways Program with my un-produced screenplay "The Weekly." I recently produced current affairs segments for SBS Insight and continue to develop original content and passion projects, including my arts-focused podcast and visual web series 'The Right Space,' which explores the relationship between creatives and their workspace across all disciplines.
