About me
Hello, my name is Theo Gray. I graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in the spring of 2019 where I studied cinematography, filmmaking and film theory. As a filmmaker in a traditional art school, I had a so-called untraditional route to the form of filmmaking by taking classes that dealt with deconstructing and challenging the medium of films, such classes as video art and avaunt guard filmmaking. Yet the school also provided the traditional side of the medium by allowing me to take narrative and documentary filmmaking, and also 16mm film. This allowed me to be a diversified thinker and creative, by combining a sense of practicality with experimentation. But I truly didn't realize the power of filmmaking until I took a cinematography class. From that point on, I dedicated my time and craft to the process of cinematography, and have been lucky enough to have worked on several short films as a cinematographer since I've moved to New York City in the summer of 2019. I hope to continue to collaborate with directors and storyteller who strive to push the medium forward while telling stories that inspire and challenge the individuals who watch the film.Referees:

Additional information:
I have devoted my passion for cinematography and filmmaking as I have grown over the years into several genres such as narrative, documentary, and experimental filmmaking. Shaping light and emphasizing bold images has been a common visual theme in my work, as I always strive to show the surrealism in everyday life. Cinema and the power of its abilities to construct realities push me every day to become a visual storyteller that shares the power of when light and image come together.
