About me
I have always thought that talent is necessary in art, yet it must be supported by technique.Other people can comment on your talent, but you cannot tell whether you have it or not. Therefore, the only option you are left with is studying much.
This is why I have spent my life ‘a la barre’ and dancing; not only studying with the best instructors in Rome and abroad, but also continuing to develop and widen by myself the knowledge I had gained.
So I have tackled different disciplines. Jazz, tap, acro and contemporary dance, ballet, tango, acting and singing, just to mention a few, have enriched me both as a teacher and a performer.
I started as primo ballerino, mainly in jazz performances, and as assistant to a number of popular Italian choreographers.
I later worked as a choreographer myself, while holding ballet, jazz and tap dance stages all over Italy and abroad.
I eventually took an interest in acting, singing and directing musical theatre and comedy. All this encouraged me to refine my teaching techniques and to coach for actors and singers.
My professional commitment has never hindered my studies and my participation to stages and courses held by popular teachers– I believe one always has something to learn from people with different artistic backgrounds.
Teaching a class or directing a company entails the same responsibility, although the reasons and objectives people have or the amount of time they need may differ.
When I am teaching, no matter the type of student, I always try to figure out who I am dealing with and their aim, devising a personalised path, despite the method we are supposed to follow. I create my lesson at the moment, in the classroom, according to the students that are present to my classes.
It’s the reason why my lessons are not always the same, they are not prepared, but they follow a precise methodology created by me.
Results are obtained through patience in a peaceful and creative environment and through a stimulating and varying routine.
I often smile and say “do not fear mistakes. If you cannot do something, I will take care of it, you simply do and enjoy what you are doing”. Too often have I seen talented people give up dancing because of old school and boring methods.
Serenity and fun are key to get the best out of students. I do not know why this works, but it does for me.
