The Completely Remarkable, Utterly Fabulous Transformation of a Regular Joe” is an ultra-low budget, gay themed, mid-life crisis, romantic comedy/musical about one man’s quest to recapture the sparkle in his life by becoming a Cyndi Lauper drag queen
Joe, a typical accountant-type, leads an ordinary life: he works an unrewarding job for an incompetent boss, his relationship with his girlfriend is distant and detached, and the dreams of his youth have long been forgotten. After forgetting his own anniversary, Joe is thrown out of his girlfriend’s apartment and forced to confront the fact that he’s sleepwalking through life.
At the advice of his somewhat unorthodox therapist, Joe retraces his steps to find the last time he felt excitement about the future. This journey leads him back home and reconnects him to his teenage obsession with Cyndi Lauper. If she could put the sparkle in his life back then, why not now?
Under the tutelage of Gary, Joe’s teacher as well as designated “gay guy” in the mailroom, Joe sees his life, and those of his friends, go from “gray” to “gay” in a whirl of color and excitement.
Musical numbers, animated sequences, office politics, and brown food punctuate this quirky character-driven comedy about one mans journey to find himself ... and the perfect set of pumps.
