This is a live action ten minute black comedy starring Martin Hancock (Hannibal Rising, Kingdom of Heaven, Coronation Street) about a 40 year old looser called Alan who secretly longs to be more like his hero James Bond in a modern fairy tale of emancipation. You will know of an Alan, but you will not know an Alan. You have probably worked with one, the odd guy in the office who never speaks and is invisible except when he’s being the butt of jokes. He has lived his whole life with his worst enemy and best friend, his mum, and worked the same crap job he hates since school. He is immobilised by his insecurities and fear and never achieved or amounted to and thing and still suffers from the same morbid fear of wasps he’s had since childhood. Then a series of dark and unfortunate events conspire in a magical way to emancipate Alan. Stung by a wasp, fired from his job and with his security blanket ripped away after his mum is crushed in a wave of soft core porn, at last forced out into the world, lost, Alan must start to take control of his own life. His first decision takes him to a strip club and the beautiful femme fatale Adriana, His second decision results in unconsciousness and the third in mistaking himself for a hit man. Alan goes along with these things and in doing so grows, with fate as his vehicle and luck on his side Alan charms his princess, Adriana, navigates the angry troll, her husband, and slays the mighty dragon, the wasp, leaving us knowing that Alan might just be OK.
