What’s your type cast?

Hey everyone,

How we look plays a big role on us as actors, as it tells us the types of roles we might play!

So just for fun, if you comment on this post, I’ll tell you what I would cast you as just based off first looks at your profiles.

Feel free to let others know on this thread too what you would cast them as!

And please remember this is just my opinion, so don’t feel like this is what everyone thinks of you, it’s just my opinion.

Hi Will,
Good idea. We often hear that C.D's make up their mind when you walk through the door before you've even opened your mouth!
Let me know what you think I could be cast as?!
Best wishes
Jimmy.

This is based purely on your profile photos...
Will Brigham: You look like a yoga teacher, very friendly face. Also a vegan hitman.
Jimmy O'Rourke: Quiz show host, your face holds a lot of emotion. Also a radio DJ.
Georgia Daniels: Suburban stay-at-home mom. Also a PE/sports teacher.

This is a great idea. I am always type cast as the bitchy girl (I think it may be the blonde stereotype?) Andrew, I see you as a very wealthy creative like an art collector or avant grade film director. Carmen I see you as an undercover spy/ special agent.

Surely, as actors and actresses, we shouldn't be thinking of a "type cast". We should be able to portray anyone (not even limited by our age bracket - think of Julie Walters). Once we start pigeon holing ourselves, we won't apply for the "off the wall" roles. In the last 11 years of my professional acting life, I've portrayed myriad characters, with totally different looks, accents and dialects. Don't limit yourself!

Sue, I know what you mean; however, in the tv and film work you are very much type cast. I have a few very successful tv and film actor friends, and like it or not they are cast very close to who they truly are in real life. It’s important to know your casting bracket, especially for film and tv, that way, when you do get called in for that audition you can smash it, because you know what they are looking for and you know your USP.

Of course accents are incredibly important, but the way you look and hold yourself and even talk will take precedence.

All the best for you and your career!

Andrew :)

Thanks Page. It must be the turtle neck hehe! You’re not bitchy. Just by looking at your headshot I would say, best friend of girl next door. There is an edge to you, so if you know how to do a “working class” accent, then that’ll work in your favour. I also think, if you put your hair up, you can look more regal. Finally I would consider giving an array of different looks with your headshots, because at the moment it’s one tone.

All the best,
Andrew

Will- from your headshot I would cast you as one of the villains. You’ve got a striking face, so I would say a bully or someone that is untrustworthy or even a bit sadistic. That is just looking at your headshot.

Jimmy- you’ve got a good array of different looks. You could play the dad, I see a football dad or something to do with football, I also see a painter, builder something that involves your hands. If you were in downtown abbey, I would say you’d be downstairs, maybe a footman.

Georgia- you’ve got a good range. You can play gritty, maybe someone from an estate or a single mum, but you can also play someone a lot softer and more “sophisticated”, or trying to be that. You have a soft yet hard look. Because of your facial features that are open I would suggest looking to go into comedy, something like FleaBag. You could also play the girl next door friend.

I wish you all the success for your career!

Chris- Judging by photos, either a dad, or a hard man. Someone who has a job working on a building site or is a plumber. There is a hardness to your face, like you’ve been through things.

Wish you all the luck for your career!

Andrew
