I am known for my dazzling smile which lights up my whole face. I have a bubbly personality and am a popular member of any team. I started my professional career at the age of 11 and since the age of 19 I have worked continuously as a singer, dancer and actress. At 23 I then honed my skills by going to drama school to study Musical Theatre in a one-year intensive course. I graduated with a double distinction and since re-entering the industry I have played a diverse selection of roles in Theatre, Film and TV. Highlights
-
My first professional production was at the age of 11 in 'Kes' at York Theatre Royal. Also at York Theatre Royal, aged 14, I performed 'Hourglass', winning 1 of the 9 main parts out of 120 other children. Aged 16 I became the first person in my school to receive an A* in my Drama GCSE.
I took part in numerous amateur productions including Dorothy in 'The Wiz', Jill in 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and Nancy in 'Gaslight'. All these received excellent reviews, especially my performance in 'Gaslight' where the critic suggested I should have played Martine McCutcheon's role in 'Love Actually'!
My adult professional career began when I became a Redcoat at Butlins, although I was quickly promoted to play Mimi in the Skyline Cast. This allowed me to perform not only in the twice nightly Skyline shows, but also in the pantomimes, Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
After a season as the resident female vocalist at Fantasy Island, Skegness I went back to my acting roots; in November 2007 I joined Chaplin's Pantomimes and won the lead role of Betty Banana in the production of 'The Magic Castle'.
In 2009 I was awarded a place in drama school, to study Musical Theatre in a one-year intensive course to hone all my previous skills. While at drama school we performed two musicals and I secured a main part in both musicals, 'Kolokolo Bird' in Just So and 'Harriet' in Hotel S.A.L.I.G.I.A. I have now graduated with a double distinction.
Since graduating I have done a lot of extra work for TV and film and 'stand in' work. At Christmas 2010 I was in the pantomime Cinderella where I played the Evil Queen and the Fairy Godmother, which shows I am a versatile and adaptable actress. In 2011 I did a cabaret tour where I was the lead female vocalist. Then at the end of the year I was in pantomime again, playing The Good Fairy in Jack and the Beanstalk at The Grange Theatre in Northwich, Cheshire. At the beginning of 2012 I filmed the title role in a short film, 'A Chat with Mrs Chicky'. I did 2 touring pantomimes in the summer playing the role of the Genie in Aladdin and the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella both for the company Oddpost Entertainment. In the autumn I did a TIE job touring the East Riding area, taking upon the role of Holly in A Big Difference. I also did a rehearsed reading and workshop for a new musical called Tin Can where I played the lead role of Valentina. I ended 2012 by returning to The Grange Theatre in Northwich to play the role of Fairy Ditsy (The Good Fairy) in Sleeping Beauty. -
I sang in a professional production of Kes! the musical, aged 11, and I became the lead singer of the school band. Both featured on the local news. When singing at the York Battle of the Bands, my band came 2nd. I also sang at the Bude Jazz Festival, aged 14.
When a Redcoat, I was 1 of the 3 lead singers in the Redcoat show and also took part in the contest, Red Idol, winning on many occasions. I then successfully auditioned for the part of ‘Mimi’ in the Skyline Gang at Butlins, which involved singing, dancing and acting in the twice nightly shows and performing in a pantomime twice a week. While at Butlins, I was asked to be 1 of the 3 backing singers for a Madonna tribute show, which I did with great pleasure even though it was on my only day off!
From Butlins I moved to Fantasy Island in Skegness to be the resident female singer, which increased my repertoire immensely. At the end of the season, I won the role of Betty Banana for Chaplins’ Pantomimes, which saw me singing, dancing and acting again.
I then became part of Girls Rloud, a Girls Aloud tribute band, as Kimberley and also worked for a company called Stagecoach where I taught children ranging from 4 - 7 year olds singing, acting and dancing.
I then put my pop singing roots to one side and concentrated on singing in musicals at drama school and incresing the range of my voice. My vocal range is now D to F# above top C, Belt to an A.
Since graduating in 2010 I was in the pantomime Cinderella, that Christmas, playing both roles of the Fairy Godmother and the Evil Queen. In 2011 I was the lead female vocalist of a touring cabaret show, I then finsihed off the year by performing in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk as the Good Fairy. All these roles including me singing solo songs and choral singing.
