About me
I’ve had a lifelong love of theatre, literature and film and have been closely associated with the music industry for most of my life. I have worked in a primary school for 15 years as a learning support assistant and studied English language and literature at the Open University gaining a 1st Class honours degree in 2013. In 2015 I played in my first pantomime at a local theatre which ran for three weeks and in the Summer of 2016 my first Shakespeare performance was at the renowned Pendley Shakespeare Festival – a rep style open-air theatre where two Shakespeare plays are rehearsed and performed back to back over a period of just three weeks. Here I discovered the joy of performing at a ‘professional’ level and have learnt so much through working with superb actors and directors. I will be joining them again this year for the fourth year running. Throughout these years, with renewed confidence and new skills, I have been able to return to my local theatre and perform such iconic roles as Lady Macbeth and Cleopatra, and Kate in Pinter’s ‘Old Times’. I am now looking to gain further experience in film, TV, radio, theatre, voice work and other projects; perhaps performance in education i.e working with young people as an introduction to Classic literature and bringing Shakespeare texts alive.Acting experience:
Pendley Shakespeare Festivals 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019
Additional skills:
As part of the Shakespeare festival I have completed movement and puppetry workshops, 4-part harmony singing of mediaeval choral music and barbershop, culminating in live performances in all of these.
I have also attended 9 months of weekly workshops on improvisation and devising.
I can play basic guitar and piano and have performed at various music festivals singing lead and backing vocals.
I can drive, cycle, swim and juggle. I keep fit and have practised pilates for eight years.
Additional information:
I form good working relationships with others and having worked intensely in rep theatre as part of an ensemble cast many times, I am confident in my ability to get on well with people and be a team player. My experience working in a school and with children of all abilities has taught me patience and empathy.
