About me
Having worked in the business for almost a decade I feel I am well equipped to be a very strong, positive and valuable addition to a sound department. I have been extremely lucky so far in my career, having continuously worked with the industries leading audio equipment as well as inspirational and very talented individuals who influenced the kind of professional I am today. My main body of work has been in producing and receiving houses. I am a strong team member, reliable and efficient but also function well off my own initiative. At this stage in my career I feel thoroughly accustomed with all the disciplines needed to occupy a plethora of audio related positions within the industry. I am always looking to challenge myself, experience new surroundings and create new and fulfilling projects. I thrive on being part of a passionate, focused and talented group of individuals pulling together to create something beautiful. Something that will inspire, educate and unite people.During my time as a sound operator I was nurtured well on the processes within the theatre and what was needed to become a well-rounded and competent technician. Some of these included:
The plotting, operation and maintenance of performances.
Assisting sound designers in realising the design.
The installation of intricate sound designs in various theatres.
Working daily with digital and analogue mixing consoles.
The operation of show control and editing software.
The organization and amplification of large-scale orchestra pits, band pits and live concert shows.
Acting quick yet efficiently in solving problems.
The planning and execution of daily change overs.
Knowing that communication, efficiency and comradery is the spine of a successful in house production team.
Being actively responsible for aspects of the building infrastructure including communication, video and audio relay systems.
Creating sound practical objects.
Exploring, practising and evolving with ever changing audio technology.
In more recent and senior capacity's I have been solely responsible for other aspects of a sound department. These included:
Rotas, timesheets and team meetings.
Health and safety, risk assessment and training records.
Being a direct point of contact for incoming productions to liaise with ahead of their arrival.
A budget and how to use it effectively in taking the theatre forward.
The welfare and development of technicians.
The hiring of audio equipment.
Recruitment and contractual paperwork.
