About me
I am an experienced lighting designer and technician based in London with experience in operas, plays, ballet, and comedy with a wide range of design experience developed working on many performances in all types of venues and spaces. I am highly experienced in working in venues of all sizes and types and I have toured shows around the country.I worked at English National Opera at the London Coliseum as a lighting technician until I took voluntary redundancy late last year.
I lit Algorithms at Edinburgh Fringe festival 2019 and at Soho theatre 2020 and If This Is Normal at the Edinburgh Festival 2019 and the 2020 Vaults festival. I lit Handel’s Acis and Galatea for English National Opera Studio live productions, and I lit Coconut, a new play by Guleraana Mir and produced by The Thelmas, which premiered last spring at Ovalhouse Theatre before going on a nationwide tour. I also worked with The Thelmas on Ladykiller by Madeline Gould, which completed successful sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival 2019 and Vaults Festival 2019. Recently I lit Handel’s Acis and Galatea for English National Opera Studio live productions. I was nominated for an Offie Theatre Award for her lighting for The Awakening at the Brockley Jack theatre in 2016.
Other lighting credits include Dutchman at the Tristian Bates e and Goddess by Serena Heywood performed at the Brighton Fringe Festival and at Manchester 503 Theatre and. Theatre Now We Are Three, by Descent Theatre.
At the Coliseum, I worked on large-scale shows and events such as the British Fashion Awards and visiting musicals and I worked with visiting dance and opera international companies such as English National Ballet.
Productions I have follow spotted include Sunset Boulevard, Porgy and Bess, Chess, and Bat Out Of Hell, plus many other ballets, musicals, and operas.
I have extensive technical skills and experience, and knowledge of equipment such including ETC EOS family consoles, moving lights (Vari-Lite and Martin) and Pyrotechnics. Production roles have included pyrotechnics operator, follow spots, lighting programmer and show operator.
I had a wide range of duties in the lighting department; responsibilities included preparing and maintaining equipment for upcoming shows, rigging, focusing for each day’s performance and rehearsing new productions.
I can work in a time-pressured situation to a very high standard. I am able to work well within a team and use my self-initiative and I have strong creative problem-solving skills.
