Feeling a little rusty...

Anna Pavlis
Actor

Hey guys, so I've been out of the game for a while now- graduated with a Drama degree ten years ago, had my daughter, moved cities, worked full time jobs, etc.. I've finally got to the point where I have more free time now though, and I'm dying to get back into acting. All I have done the past few years is a bit of extra work, so I feel quite rusty to be honest! Just wondered if anyone had any decent examples of cover letters to send over when applying for jobs, or websites with tips please? I always feel like I'm not presenting myself well enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

For cover letter when applying on here or Spotlight keep them short, they only see maybe three lines of info so state your relevant skills, possibly your availabilty and your contact details. 90% of the time there will be no response which can be dissappointing but your best bet is to click submit and let it leave your mind, what is meant for you will find its way to you.

Hi Anna.
My advice would be - before you think about applying for roles, get some up-to-date head shots and a show reel. These are the two greatest tools in an actor's toolbox and it's nigh impossible to get looked at by CDs without them. Once you have them, keep the application letter short and sweet, and include any relevant information pertinent to the role, plus where you're based and your availability.
Good Luck with it all - although you are choosing a VERY difficult time to return to the industry!
