Sherrell Jones - Biography
For Atlanta’s GA 23-year-old rising star Sherrell Jones, “Stubborn Love” will be featured on Sherrell’s debut album, Finally. Sherrell Has been writing since she was 8 yrs old her first song she has ever written was called butterflies because she always loved the colors of the butterflies “When Sherrell was first trying to make it as a new artist, she was willing to take risks and try anything and I admire that.”
Sherrell describes her own music as fun and youthful while at the same time signifying deep meaning. “Pop music always had her heart but R&b/soul music just took her to another place that’s how her affectionate side came out. Some of those stories can be meaningful and still be fun. I never choose a song that I can’t relate to in some way, shape, or form. My music will always reflect who I am.”
When asked about her first experience in an Atlanta GA studio, Sherrell responded, “My producer was amazed at how well I did in the studio the first time. He said I took to it like a duck takes to water! And the studio band couldn’t believe I had never been into the studio prior to this experience.” I felt like a kid in a candy store!
Sherrell’s voice is rather developed for a 23-year-old since her studio performance required little to no tuning. That doesn’t mean that Sherrell doesn’t seek constant improvement and constructive criticism in all areas. “You can be a performer and not be an artist, but I am an artist. I have spent time studying and researching everything I can about the music industry and becoming an artist. I am not only honing my songwriting skills, but I am also developing my total package including my image and my stage presence, right down to learning how to read a teleprompter if the situation ever arises for me to do so. This isn’t just a dream of mine, this is a goal that I am determined to achieve and I won’t give up.” Sherrell takes and applies all the advice she receives from the All music industry professionals she works with and who serve as mentors to her.
In addition to Christina Perri, Sherrell’s influences include the Queens of pop Madonna and Britney Spears. She was most touched by Britney Spears music when she was a little girl but when she became a woman her music influences had changed a bit Anita baker and Rihanna became in her heart, but see that’s the thing with Sherrell She explained ‘’ I never had a limit to music I listen to all types of music I can give u a list of my music influences but it will just go and on. Music to my ears is like a wave in a sea it just keep going and going. Country, pop, acoustic, rock, gospel, classical, R&B, soul, like I said before the list would just go on.
While Sherrell’s heart is in pop/r&b music, she also credits actress and R&B singer Keyshia Cole as an influential role model to her. “Keyshia has been through a lot to get where she’s at today and yes I can relate in some ways and then She’s so humble and positive about everything. I found it inspiring that you can be in the spotlight while maintaining a sense of decency and wholesomeness. Some people might say that I’m a goody-goody, but I don’t mind that. I’d rather be known for doing good things than doing bad things!” Sherrell asserts.
Sherrell hope that her music will provide a new means for her to give back to her community. I know,” she says, in addition to wanting to give back to other charitable organizations close to her heart such as SADD, the Leukemia & Feed the hungry, and the March of Dimes.
Did u know that Sherrell was in a group trio back in 2008 called PGC which stands for pretty girl clique here is what she had to say ‘’ I was young and I signed a bad management contract but I did love my group I know we would have been the next big thing, but it just didn’t work out all I can say is that made me who I am today a very strong confident woman.
I sing all the time so wherever I am is my stage. I’ve even been known to sing in the aisles
