About me
For the past 5 1/2 years I have been working in London's West End, at Phantom of the Opera, first as a dresser, then working my way up to a wardrobe assistant. Although I have never officially trained in costume making, whilst dressing I was given the opportunity to learn and I have developed strong pattern cutting and draping skills. I have now also completed several freelance projects as a costume maker. As a wardrobe assistant I have developed management skills, including running the department in the absence of the wardrobe mistress and deputy, organising staff for holiday cover, taking staff meetings, dealing with petty cash and time sheets. I also deal directly with makers, arranging fittings and managing fabric orders.
I have a great love for my work and would adapt well into any team. I am keen to move my career forward and would appreciate the opportunity to do so.
Additional skills:
Costume cut and construction, corsetry, tutu making, alterations, and maintenance
Applique, embroidery, costume dyeing and distressing techniques.
Construction and maintenance of costume props and masks.
Dressing, continuity, budget, buying, stock control and costume fittings.
Organisation and management skills
Good computer skills and both Mac and PC.
Full drivers licence
