What does a Storyboard Artist do?

As a storyboard artist, you are responsible for taking an initial concept or script and turning the words into a visual story; conveying emotions and gestures in a way that allows the director to conceptualise and clarify exactly what is needed for that particular scene. The illustrations are usually presented in a comic book form, where the artist visualises the scene from the camera's point of view.

Storyboards are mainly required on action films or films that contain computer-generated imagery (CGI) where a lot of careful planning is needed.

It is an important role at the very beginning of the process as the storyboard sets the tone for the project, and the production and the development team use it as a point of reference.
