This rare masterclass, offering the chance to work with acclaimed writer Philip Ridley, comes to W1WORKSHOPS. Philip Ridley, alongside Nancy Sullivan, will hold these sessions on understanding his work, how to approach it & directing you in doing so.
MONDAY 8th & 15th APRIL 2019
6.30pm - 9.30pm
SESSION 1 - UNDERSTAND THE WORK
This incredible and rare session gives us the opportunity to see a collection of Philip's unseen notes, artwork as well as see him read his work first hand! Philip will share his process and inspirations using stories, art and music to do so.
This will give us as actors/directors a very clear understanding of where the work comes from and how to get to the very essence of it when approaching it.
SESSION 2-OVER TO YOU
In the second week each actor will come with a prepared Philip Ridley monologue. Philip and Nancy will both guide and direct the pieces, following on from the first session which will hold us in great stead for approaching the monologues and what is required of us.
WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY!
This course will be assisted by co-founder of W1, Nancy Sullivan.
This year Nancy has been Offie nominated for her performance as Leah in the one woman play, Fabric, at the Soho Theatre. She also won the The Stage Edinburgh Award and a Fringe First for her performance as Leah in 2016. She has recently finished filming the new Ricky Gervais series Afterlife for Netflix as well as Call The Midwife.
