THE idea of Caroline Bowder’s epic new two act play is that a woman’s body is made of parts who talk to each other. They joke and tease one another as they serve their mistress well, even when they are shovelling shit. When the villainous Bowel Cancer arrives amongst them, some of these friends must be sacrificed and others take on new duties during the medical/surgical fightback to save the life of the woman who they know as She. Everyone – She, the NHS, the God-like surgeon, nurses and her husband – is involved in the drama. Much is lost, but also much is gained.
THE BODY is funny, moving and authentic. It was first performed at the Henley Fringe in July 2012
