About me
Andrae Melody Palmer aka Mr MelodyA multifaceted artist songwriter, co-producer, vocal/performance coach, exhibition curator, and events host. I'm known for my smooth tone, versatility, and undeniable charisma on stage. Specialising in various styles/genres. I’ve toured the world as a vocalist and featured on recordings with Wiley, Chaz Jankel, Dizzee Rascal, Vybz Kartel and Gregory Porter to name a few. My roots are of Jamaican heritage. I grew up in Brixton, South London, a complex and diverse environment that has shaped my musical sound, and provided me with the tenacity to pursue my musical aspirations regardless of the many obstacles I've faced over the years.
Notable achievements include being the front man for a popular 'Gospel-Soul' trio called Nu-Soul (early 2000’s) and more recently headhunted to front an all-male vocal group called Manuscript (Warner Music Group 2016). My talents also landed me the coveted role of playing Michael Jackson in the iconic London West End production "Thriller Live," Michael Jackson Musical removed
I am not just an artist; I am a seasoned professional who brings dedication, confidence, enthusiasm, and ambition to every project. My career as a community builder also spans decades, I've designed numerous community initiatives and led 2 social enterprises since 2006 to date. I Launched Level-Up Live the ultimate live music showcase & performance development platform for under 18's and Out Da Box providing introductory hands on training opportunities for developing specialised 'backstage' industry skills in 2019.
I am an advocate for the therapeutic power of live music both for audiences and artists. 2021 I established The Soul Food Collective, a Live Music showcase and community of seasoned musicians/performers committed to providing a platform and development opportunities for emerging artists. Many of us really suffered mentally and financially as professional performers not being able to work or interact with each other organically due to lockdowns. Low in confidence, dealing with uncertainty I initially organised a live-jam night among friends but this has since grown into a thriving arts based community and successful monthly showcase night.
I have spent most of my professional life as an artist in service to others and thus I have not had the opportunity to release most of the music I have recorded despite being signed to a major record label and collaborating with household names. I am determined to change this independently this year. I still earn a living from performing mainly to corporate and private clients but I am passionate about creating and releasing my own music. It's been long overdue and I feel I owe this to myself and the fans who have supported me over the years.
My vision is to leave an indelible mark on the music industry by authentically representing my culture and community through my music and the shows I curate.
