About me
Rachel, hailing from Lytham St.Annes, Lancashire, is a Mezzo Soprano, based in the north of England, who studied at Leeds College of Music under the tutelage of Carolyn Hargreaves.Rachel is currently appearing in Europe's biggest Christmas show "Thursford Christmas Spectacular" as vocalist and featured soloist. Prior to this Rachel appeared with Leeds Youth Opera, playing "Ulrica" in Giuseppe Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera. Previous roles with LYO include credits such as "Anita" in Leonard Bernstein's musical "West Side Story".
During her time at music conservatoire, Rachel sang roles such as "The Sorceress" in Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, "Baba" in Gian Carlo Menotti's The Medium and "Misstress of Novices" in Giacomo Puccini's Suor Angelica, which also featured soloists from Opera North.
Other Opera credits are with the celebrated Dorset Opera in productions such as L'eliser D'amore and Un Ballo in Maschera.
She has also performed in many concerts and recitals at venues such as Leeds Town Hall, Leeds Grand Theatre, Blackburn Cathedral and Wakefield Cathedral.
Rachel is also always keen to push vocal boundaries with new music and recently performed at the celebrated "Leeds Lieder Festival" in the Poet and Composer Showcase as a soloist.
Rachel has also been fortunate enough to sing in masterclasses with sopranos, Alison Pearce and Deborah York.
Along side Operatic repertoire Rachel loves singing within the crossover genre, specifically in the style of the MGM Hollywood era which celebrated the rich contralto tones of artists such as Judy Garland, Doris Day and Lena Horne.
