About me
I have been an avid director of theatre for the past four years. I have directed productions for the Marlowe Studio and the Gulbenkian Theatre, as well as an outdoors production of A Midsummer Night's Dream for the inaugural Canterbury Shakespeare Festival, and Merchant of Venice for 2016's CSF. As a result of this production I was invited to consult on the construction plans for the Crater Theatre, an outdoors venue to be built on the grounds of the University of Kent. With each production I have directed, I have learnt new and varied skills, and each production was wildly different. My first, Lettice & Lovage was important because it taught me the fundamentals of controlling a small cast of four. With my second, Harlequinade, I was co-directing and that taught me the values of cooperation but also when to stand one's ground. My third was my own adaptation of Cervantes' novel Don Quixote which was important because I was constrained by a very low budget, which was challenging, but great fun, and also the value of being amenable to cuts/changes/alterations of one's own work. Fourth was Much Ado About Nothing for the Gulbenkian which was my first tackle of Shakespeare, and which I had fun updating to a modern day setting. Finally, it was Midsummer, which was great - it was delightful getting to put on an outdoors performance. Also, as part of my Masters degree, I wrote, directed and starred in my own hour long performance about US President Franklin D. Roosevelt.Referees:
