About me
My name is Haviva Avirom. I am very interested in theatre education and have copious experience as a stage manager and theatre technician.I began working as running crew at the La Habra Depot Theater when I was 12. I advance to assistant stage managing while with the company. I continued stage managing and began running lights and sound while in middle school and made the decision to pursue theatre seriously, attending the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. While at LACHSA, I apprenticed in the Cal State Los Angeles scene shop, where I assisted in building sets for over 20 productions. I took courses in lighting design and sound editing as well. I served as stage manager and ASM on a number of projects and was also able to ASM two years of LACHSA graduations at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the LA Music Center. I was a theatre major in undergrad, working on over 35 productions in various capacities including technical director, light and sound board operator, and stage manager. Since graduate school, I have worked with the Downtown Repertory Theater Company. As a small company, roles are fluid with DTRC and I have worked as wardrobe mistress, stage manager, prop designer, dramaturg, and front of house staff.
I have done research and rehearsal hall work on 19 productions, as well as acting as new play dramaturg and working personally with playwrights on three other projects. I also have experience with season planning and with reading new works and recommending them for production with two different companies. I have a bachelor of arts in Theatre from the University of Puget Sound, where I studied with Dr. Geoffrey Proehl and a master of arts in Theatre History from the University of Victoria in British Colombia. I have a background in European and Canadian theatre history and practices as well as a focus on Japanese theatre and history.
My experience as a stage manager means that I am accustomed to coordinating between many groups of stakeholders in order to create a coherent finished product. My work at AIM Property Services has been successful because I have an analytical mind and a bent towards organization.
I am enthusiastic and committed to the highest standard of quality in my work
