About me
I am a creative and energetic person, keen to input new ideas. I have always worked well with people and, as an effective communicator, I can calmly handle a variety of challenging situations. I strive to help others to the best of my ability whether it is toward a specific goal, or simply in everyday life.At university I have specialised as a set and costume designer, keen to explore unique ideas and spaces in order to create a truly magical audience experience. I have a keen interest in making the world of the performance extend into the audience and beyond the auditorium, designing to create an immersive experience.
I also have significant skills in costume construction, including tailoring, pattern making and draping, and some experience in dyeing. I have a passion for detail and historical accuracy, having been part of a workshop that tailored five Victorian frock coats for an exhibition at the SS Great Britain.
For set design, I am a competent user of 2D and 3D AutoCAD to create technical drawings for construction and technical departments. I also enjoy working to scale and making the model box of my design, accurately representing the final product. Working as a set designer and assistant set design on productions at uni, I have developed my communication as a designer, especially between departments, to create a cohesive design and smooth production process.
Additional skills:
I am a patient person, always keen to find a compromise in times of strain between departments and thoroughly enjoy creative problem solving with the production team. Having worked on professional level shows at university, I am able to understand and appreciate the whole production process, becoming much more realistic in my work and being flexible when creativity and reality clash.
Skills include but not limited to:
Hand-sewing, machine sewing, use of an over locker, tailoring experience, flat pattern cutting, draping patterns, cross-stitch embroidery, knitting, crochet, AutoCAD 2D and 3D, basic photoshop, budgeting, communication, liaison with Directors, teamwork, problem solving, time management and delegation and planning.
On all the shows I have worked on, I have dealt with money and budgeting, understanding the importance of keeping to both a budget and production deadlines.
University Show Roles include:
Costume Supervisor on THE GIRL OF INK AND STARS, The Egg, TRB, May 2019.
