About me
A recent graduate from the University of Sheffield, I have spent the last 4 years fully immersing myself into all aspects of technical theatre with the Sheffield University Theatre Company and Performing Arts societies. In addition I have worked with alumni and outside companies on small scale national tours, Edinburgh Fringe Festival productions as well as a number of immersive and devised pieces. My primary focus is in lighting, especially design, having worked in most roles in this field, at this level, for multiple performances. Within this I enjoy working most on installation, devised and immersive pieces. These present a fantastic creative challenge to generate more than a piece of theatre, an entire experience allowing an audience engagement with the work that can sometimes be lost, I feel, with classical proscenium arch shows. Working on devised work as a designer is also a very rewarding process due to its collaborative nature and creation of something unique and new, usually experimental. To work on something that you are passionate about or to find the scope for enjoyment within a project is something I feel is important, as it allows you to deliver your work above and beyond.
I am an individual who prides themselves on excellent time management, dedication to projects and in their ability to efficiently complete a task. I enjoy working under pressure to deliver a high quality end product and will always push myself to achieve that. One of the great draws to the industry, to me, is you have to continually think flexibly and outside the box to solve both practical and design problems in the generation of a show.
I am now looking to build on this experience in a professional environment and feel I would be able to add both creatively and practically to future productions.
