About me
I graduated from Wimbledon College of Art last year with a first class honours degree, and since then have gained experience in theatre and advert work. I learnt many skills whilst at university including pattern drafting and cutting on the stand, along with many different sewing skills. I have ample hand and machine skills including embroidery and beading. I've also had experience with printing and dyeing using a variety of techniques and materials. I made three costumes in my third year including a men's costume from Purcell's 'The Fairy Queen' where I ombre dyed the doublet and skirt whist adding to the detail by screen printing and embroidering. I have also done an 1840's day dress with many petticoats, a corset and a straw bonnet. The last of the three was a bias cut 1930's evening gown made of brushed silk with beading shoulder detail. I have also gained experience in tailoring and tutu making. Since university I have worked with a freelance costume maker where I was heavily involved with making for Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserable costumes. I helped with the main construction of the skirts and sleeves along with adding finishing details and embellishments. I have done many fittings with individuals as well as fittings on a large scale when I volunteered at the London Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies. I am a friendly and enthusiastic worker who is always keen to learn. I am hard working and I am able to work well in a team as well as individually.Additional skills:
