About me
Between 2009 and 2012 I worked predominantly as a practicing sculptor as well as an exhibition technician, specializing in art and gallery exhibitions, including works from the British Council Collection and the Flowers Gallery as well as having worked at the London Art Fair in 2010. During this period I was also a practicing sculptor, which led to me being approached to work on a project which begun in Kent in 2011 on the design, sculpting and construction of a life size cave for the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre in the UAE. Upon arriving in the UAE (April 2012), I was promoted from assistant sculptor to Head Sculptor and Designer as well as acting project manager. In conjunction with the cave project I also gained a contract to produce 320 unique plaster casts within a 6 week period, of which I was responsible for creating a method of producing the casts and was also project manager for the duration of the work, as well as being directly involved with the production of the moulds and casts.Since having completed my work at the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre I have worked alongside my colleague in gaining further contracts in the UAE, which have included an on-water development for a hotel resort and further sculpting work. I have since returned to the U.K. Where I have continued to work freelance and on commissioned work.
Additional skills:
My main area of expertise is poly carving for scenic props and sculpting for museums and theatre, though I continue to work with a variety of mediums such as stone, wood, clay, plaster and more recently, experimenting with modelling chocolate. I am experienced in all aspects of project management, from tender, negotiation, design through to completion. My gallery work has meant developing my carpentry skills greatly, in addition to improvisation and innovation in regards to unique challenges which the career presents.
