About me
I have a foundation degree in art and design and experience in theatre, set dressing, prop making and buying. I am fascinated by people, society and their behaviours and have achieved a first class honours degree in Criminology and Sociology. However, alongside my interest of humankind comes my love for art in particular, well-crafted sets for theatre and performance to create an environment in which characters to come to life. Since the age of 18 I have been a member to the award winning theatre company Masquerade, based in North West Kent, where I have assisted in bringing their renowned set designs to life and help run productions. I have also developed my skills by obtaining several work experience opportunities: I have assisted with prop making and set re-dressing on several different projects with theatre company Punchdrunk as well as acting as an art department assistant for ‘Hoff the Record’ (me+you productions). More recently I took on the role of 'art department' on the short film ‘MUG’. I also have interest in photography, screen printing and drawing. My experiences in both TV and theatre have highlighted, for me, the creative wonders you can achieve through hard work, skill, interest and passion.Additional skills:
Through my experiences outlined above I have built skills in set decorating and dressing, scenic design, continuity, visual research, Sketch Up, prop sourcing and buying and prop making.
I also have experience in backstage from organising prop’s tables to re-dressing sets after performances and preparing consumable action props. Having performed in shows myself I am aware of the importance of efficiency and organisation in all departments of a production for a show to run smoothly and successfully.
In 2014 I attended a puppetry workshop at the national theatre which taught the basics of puppetry and movement. I am currently focusing on developing my skills in sketch-up and Photoshop.
