About me
I am a Theatre Designer, Puppeteer, Puppet Maker from Nottingham. Since graduating in Theatre Design, I have worked at the forefront of disability-led theatre-making.As a Designer, I worked as part of the creative team on the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2015 CPISRA World Games, co-designing the performer’s costumes and being a general assistant on production. I was Assistant Designer on Graeae Theatre Company’s REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL and Ramp on the Moon’s production of TOMMY. This experience provided me with the skills to progress to a production Designer role. I Designed the production of MAKLENA, which premiered at the Cambridge Junction and toured the London and Peterborough in July 2018. My work reached the international stage in June 2019 when Maklena went to Ukraine, where it toured Kharkiv and Kyiv, where it was first performed in 1933.
Most recently I worked as a puppet designer and performer on the UK tour of SPLASH!, an outdoor multi-sensory production aimed at children and adults with moderate to profound and multiple learning disabilities and their families, by circus company Extraordinary Bodies.
I have also worked as a workshop facilitator in Drama and Puppetry to children at both SEN schools and mainstream primary schools, representing Graeae Theatre Company and The Mighty Creatives.
Alongside this I create my own work as a self-producing performer and designer. In 2018, I made a verbatim puppet show called LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE which was performed at Nottingham Puppet Festival to a sell-out audience. I produced a semi-autobiographical puppet show with the working title 'What Happened to You?' a research and development funded by The Liberty Festival, presented by The Mayor of London in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This summer I was selected for Polka Theatre’s PolkaLAB scheme who are supporting further development of WHTY.
