About me
I am a recent graduate of Performance Costume. I studied in Edinburgh College of Art and have enjoyed the Scottish Performing Arts scene in all its different aspects. I have designed for the Youth Theatre and the Lyceum and have are recently made costumes for the Tron Theatre for a play written by David Leddy in Glasgow. In the second year of my degree, I had the chance to get involved in Hidden Door Festival as a performer within a puppetry performance showcasing the work of the students and in the development of an event in the Story Telling Centre in an attempt to bring to life the costumes produced by my year group. I particularly enjoyed new writing and physical theatre and how these disciplines can be enhanced by the costume design. My designs are bold and easy to read by a wide audience. I like to incorporate visual material extracted directly form painting or pop culture.
Additional skills:
I am particularly appealed by textile design and surface manipulation techniques and how that might have an impact on the creation of a character and the communication of a story. I believe that the conveyance of character can be abstracted and represented through texture and colour. Laser cut and screen print are some of the processes I have been exploring in the last years.
I also have an small knowledge regarding puppetry construction and manipulation, but great interest in the art form and its possibilities in a wider theatrical context.
