About me
ProfileRuth has been training in movement for most of her life. She began training in dance aged 2 and continued until she left for university. Her current movement practice draws on this dance heritage along with devising work, expressive practices and immersive explorations, cultivated during her time completing her BA in Drama.
She has directed many shows taking the responsibility for the movement, which have varied in styles and genres including new writing, devising and physical theatre. These included two shows for the Edinburgh Fringe and one selected for the National Student Drama Festival. She movement directed the final shows of her degree, a role which including choreography for theatre (Waltz, Russian folk dance), transitions and all actor movement. Ruth’s teaching and movement direction is driven by the exploration and expression of emotions and the subconscious through movement. This may be through immersive explorations in rehearsals or blocking scene transitions; for her, all can be used to further the production or exercise through the language of movement.
