About me
Cal Chapman is an actor, musician and writer who trained at ArtsEd, where he received a BA (Hons) in Acting for Film & Television. He has since signed with 'Brood Management’ and has gone onto work in theatre, film and musicals. Cal has performed in new writing, classical plays and indie works in venues all over London and across the UK, including Theatre 503, the Greenwich Theatre and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.Currently, Cal is in staggered production on his first feature film, “The Miner’s Son”, about a rock and roll band trying to make it big during the 1980’s Miner’s Strike, where Cal plays a lead role as the band’s singer and frontman. Cal has most recently appeared in a site-specific production of a classical work by Lady Mary Wroth preformed in her old stately home of Penhurst Place, in conjunction with Elart Productions and Lancaster University, where he has a leading role as a star-crossed lover.
In addition to his work as an actor, Cal teaches people how to paint as part of the Undergrounder Painting Group, which aims to make painting an inclusive and liberating form of creativity that anyone can feel like they could benefit from, inviting them to enjoy the process as they learn the tips and techniques that allow them to make stunning art by themselves. Cal also works as a Workshop Leader alongside the Lambeth based charity organisation, the ‘Longfield Hall Trust’. Covering a wide array of creative skills and artistic avenues, these workshops provide young people with opportunities to express themselves and discover their potential, which hopes to inspire a love of creativity and open up new pathways for the future, or just to provide a space where young people can have fun.
Previously, Cal has also tutored young actors and filmmakers as part of the ‘BFI Film Academy’ alongside the creative youth outreach charity ‘CultureWorksEast’. When he’s not acting, Cal enjoys working on his music and his screenwriting, as well as getting creative in the kitchen.
