About me
Principally a stage (character) actor for over 50 years, I retired from running my own graphic design studio in 2012 and now enjoy a late career in film and TV acting. I occasionally do SA work on big budget productions but find it more fulfilling to act in front of the camera on smaller scale stuff (although I have also been known to help out as crew as and when necessary). Because of my age bracket I tend to regularly get cast as a grandfather figure (often with dementia!) but I have a lot more to give in terms of comedy and 'straight' roles. I am reliable, not afraid of long days and early starts, rigorous rehearsals and long periods of doing nothing whilst scenes are set up. I am highly self-critical, always try to crack those lines and be in character from the start – although I am NOT a method actor. I've played some amazing leading characters from Tom Jones to Fagin, from Toad to Prince Philip and enjoyed every role.Additional skills:
I have advanced driver training in both car and on motorbike. I can sing (reasonably) and am fairly musically minded as well as being reasonably technically orientated – for a creative.
Industry awards:
Winner, Best Actor in a Comedy, Rome International Film Festival 2021
Additional information:
I have my own car(s) and am happy to travel, although I am based in mid-Hampshire and obviously love to work locally if I can. I am very flexible now I am no longer in full time work. Financial reward is not my principal motivator (but it helps, obviously). I am based near a main line railway station, which in turn is only an hour away from London.
