Additional information:
I began performing stand-up comedy in 2005 at the age of 38.
My background is in a conventional office job - I was tempted to sign up to an evening comedy course for beginners, where I caught the comedy bug.
By the end of 2005, I was the runner-up in both the prestigious BBC New Comedy Awards and a finalist in Jimmy Carr’s Comedy Idol (which was filmed on his 2005 live DVD).
2007’s was hailed by Jimmy Carr on BBC2’s Culture Show as “the funniest thing on the Fringe.”
Winner of the Malcolm Hardee Award 2008
I am now a regular headliner on the comedy circuit, and have performed six solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival:
2007: Trust Me There Is No Hope
2008: Do I Really Have To Communicate With You?
2009: Edward Aczel Explains All The World’s Problems… And Then Solves Them (2009)
2010: Ever Tried, Ever Failed, No Matter, Try Again, Fail Again, Fail Better
2011: Edward Aczel: Doesn’t Exist
2013: Edward Aczel: Lives in a Meaningless Shed
2015: Edward Aczel: The Random Flapping of Butterfly's Wings
2016: Ed Aczel's Foreign Policy
The following year, I won the Malcolm Hardee Award and received many five and four star reviews.
Writer Zadie Smith wrote an New Yorker magazine about the show.
Edward Aczel has toured the UK widely including performing at the Soho Theatre since 2010.
I have performed on several radio shows including BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, 28 Acts In 28 Minutes, Pick Of The Week and Happy Mondays
