Eleni Skarpari is a London-based musician, writer and actor originally from Cyprus. She has written and performed songs for films, and published short stories and poems in the UK, Spain, France and Cyprus. Following her BA studies in English Literature at Lancaster University and two MAs in Literature and Music Performance at Warwick and Kingston Universities, respectively, she trained at the City Lit in London, as well as with director Mark Phoenix at Third Person Theatre Company for three years. Following this, she trained for a year in the Meisner Technique with Scott Williams at the Impulse Company, and undertook PEM (Perdekamp Emotional Method) intensive training workshops in London and Hamburg. She won a year’s intensive private tuition scholarship with the Open Acting Academy for PEM. She has so far had roles in three theatre productions, one of which is a short play she wrote and directed for Camden’s fringe theatre in 2013, entitled “The Cut”, inspired by her refugee father's emotional pain caused by the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Her acting credits include roles in four feature films including Spider-Man 2: Another World Fan Film (2018) by Digitilheart Films; Strangers and Neighbours (2020) by Peracals Productions Limited, filmed in isolation during lockdown in the UK, as well as two Bollywood productions, where she was a featured extra in Dil Diyan Gallan (2018) by Speed Records, Pitaraa Talkies & Omjee Group, and De De Pyaar (2018) by VV Films Ltd. Her short film lead roles include Actress 1 in sci-fi thrillers Flowers In Bloom (2019) and Helen Larson in A Year And A Half (2019) by mhg UK Films; Annie lead actress in horror film Hunting Ground (2019) by Domenico Palomba (nominated July 2019 Indie Short Fest - Los Angeles International Film Festival); and Rita in historical action film Under The Jericho Sun by Braybrook Productions (winner of Best Action Short Film at the Bristol Independent Film Festival, Sept. 2018). Eleni has further acted in numerous commercials and music videos, including having the role of Kathleen in renowned Polish band’s Lstadt’s music video for their song “Kathleen”, by Bare Films.

Her work as a singer/songwriter is known under her stage name EchoWants Her VoiceBack and she is often described as folk noir with blues rock influences. Echo’s distinctive voice, notable stage presence and compelling lyrics have been praised by music publications, with Songwriting Magazine comparing her to the likes of Kate Bush, Lorde, Florence and The Machine, PJ Harvey and Bjork. She self-released a debut EP in 2015, and went on to perform at the 2016 South by Southwest Festival. Fast forward to today, she has released a series of singles and music videos on her YouTube channel, alongside a constant stream of updates on her social media.
