About me
When I was 6 I played the role of “ The Cheeky Monkey “ in my primary school play, acharacter that didn’t need much acting from me.True to form at that age, I decided not to
just stick to the script but added my own take on the character in the final and only
production. I don't remember a lot about primary school but I do remember an immense
feeling of pride and satisfaction following that performance. These feelings were multiplied
the following day when I was playing with my Jango Fett in the playground. The most
notorious bully, in my six year old eyes, approached me and asked if I was the kid that
played the monkey in the play. I was ready to be ridiculed but amazingly he smiled at me
and said “Oh, you were really funny” and I learnt that day that not only do I love acting but
its going to come in handy in life too.
Even so, following on from a conversation between my teacher and Dad, when my family
took advice to take me to the local theatre workshop classes, I flatly refused to go in.
My sister threatened and bribed, bribed and threatened to get me through the door. I don’t
remember what worked but I finally, with only a few minutes left of class, hesitatingly
staggered in.The Vallee Academy was my stepping stone into performing and their shows
were enthusiastically supported by all families and extended family. The audience would
dress up for the evening, clapping and whooping, eager to make the events special for the
youngsters.
Having found my obsession, I started other classes at Sylvia Young and the Young Actors
Theatre Islington on Saturdays followed by becoming a member of the National Youth
Theatre and Young Friend of The Almeida. All the teachers were inspirational and I
absorbed it all, devising, creating and performing theatre pieces. It became time to take it
to the next level and having won a place at The BRIT School, I left my excellent local
secondary school to travel miles to my alma mater. The BRIT School was a defining part of my young life and to really know what an
awesome place this is, you have to have been part of it.Once a BRIT always a BRIT. Surrounded by so many creative people, watching them produce their art and in return
perform for them, was nurturing and opened our young minds to so much. No matter what
happens in the future, the experience of attending this very special School with some very
special teachers will always be close to my heart.
But I do have the desire to carry on acting and now need to do it on a more professional
level. I continue to train at The Identity School of Acting, a world renowned part-time
drama school that allows me the time to pursue acting jobs. So I recently signed up to
Mandy and have already worked on a short film that was so much fun and enlightening.
Additional skills:
I am a skateboarder and can do multiple tricks, I can dance and have attended break dancing classes at Sylvia Young and extra-curricular bronze jazz dance lessons. I have natural comedic timing and sense of humour and I am gifted at improvisation. I also often fill my free time with drawing and sketching , which I am very good at.
