About me
Following 2 years of training at the Manchester Acting Studio, and then 2 more years at the Manchester School of Acting, I have continued to attend workshops with established professionals and accredited organisations such as Manchester Metropolitan University and the Library Theatre Manchester, to further enhance my skills. Regarding my experience I have performed in a range of both stage and screen productions ranging from classic texts such as Chekhov's The Seagull and Samuel Beckett's End Game, to more modern pieces including the Madness of King George and Me As A Penguin. I am also an advocate of new writing and regularly appear in new theatre. I have performed at a range of venues including the Lowry Theatre and Contact Theatre in Manchester. I have appeared in BBC2 Drama Peaky Blinders, a national and international TVC for 888 Betting, and more recently played central roles in corporate commercials for Brother Printers and Nordic Car Parts. On personal note, I am collector of films, a lover of crunchy peanut butter, a husband of one, and a soon to be father, Eeek !!!
Additional skills:
Basketball shooting and dribbling
Additional information:
In Novemeber of 2010, I played 3 characters in the Woodford Players production of 'The Madness of King George'. Each character had a different accent, and I was involved in a multitude of costume changes during the play. The play ran for 5 consecutive nights and was seen by over 800 people.
In spring 2011, I played the lead role of Hamm, in Samuel Beckets Endgame. The play was directed and produced by The Unholymess theatre company. The character of Hamm was a complex often contradictory one ranging from misanthropic, to vulnerable, to paternal and then brutally cruel.
In Summer 2011, I attended the Manchester Metropolitan University Theatre Schools, summer school in Keswick where we explored the need for physical transformation, listening and responding in the moment and developing an emotional life. Daily classes in movement and voice, served to develop enhanced awareness and confidence
In 2012 I auditioned for and successfully gained the part of 'Dad' in the new play, 'After Words' which is being produced and directed by renowned Manchester based theatre company, Organised Choas. The part is a fully paid role, and the production will be touring various North West festivals and theatre venues in 2012.
The creative and fun element of playing the character comes from playing the father of the protagonist who died age 96 but upon arrival to heaven, became 23 years old again. When reunited with his daughter after her death, Dad has to perform the role of the father, but is used to being and acting like a 23 year. The role is fun and I look forward to beginning my first paid tour.
In 2012 I also completed my first short film, working with film study undergraduates. 'Fifteen' is a tense thriller about the jaded past of an average man, coming back to haunt him. As the protagonist, I feature in the vast majority of the film, and had a great experience working with the cast and crew.
In January 2013, I played the role of Dave in the well received 'Me as a Penguin. The role allowed me to work more on developing a comedic character, whilst trying to remain understated.
I have continued to work in 2013 on a range of character roles, playing autistic office nerd with a deep dark secret in Manchester produced Counting The Days, and also play 'cock sure' Fireman in comedy VIP at the John Cooper Clarke Theatre. I also performed as Konstantin from The Seagull at renowned Salford Theatre, The Lowry as part of a showcase.
Already in 2014 I have secured a lead role in a national commercial for Brother printers and played Xander in new comdey 'How to murder somebody and make sure they are absolutely definitely dead'. In May I played a Whitehall advisor opposite Sam Neill in gritty BBC drama, 'Peaky Blinders 2'.
I performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2014, and more recently completed a commercial for 888 Betting. I also performed at the Contact Theatre for 3 sell out nights in the ContactCompacts Showcase
In 2015 I was a finalist in the Monologue Slam competition performing to over 300 hundred people at the Contact Theatre.
I continue to work as a Childrens Entertainer at kids parties, performing as Characters such as Pirate Pete, Kristoff from Frozen and Captain America. I also have regular work as role play actor with organisations such as Merseyside and Greater Manchester Police
